TORONTO, June 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Much fans should brace themselves because
the MMVAsjust got bigger! As the countdown to one of the hottest street-level
award shows on the planet continues, Much announced today additional
heavy hitting performers and presenters set to rock the stage at the 2014 MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS, making it nearly impossible to save those screams. The final acts
confirmed to perform for the thousands of fans outside of Much HQ are
retro-electro dance starlet Kiesza, rock-reggae collective MAGIC!, perennial rockers Sam Roberts Band, and indie-pop rising star Virginia To Vegas, who will hit the stage with breakout songstress Alyssa Reid. These new additions join previously announced performers Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Hedley, Imagine Dragons, and Lorde, as well as co-hosts Kendall and Kylie Jenner.



Additional MMVA presenters confirmed include strikingARROW star Colton Haynes, pop rockers Marianas Trench, international sensation Mia Martina, multi-talented sweetheart Victoria Duffield, breakthrough hip-hop artist SonReal, and global phenom and edgy enigma The Weeknd. They join previously announced presenters Chloë Grace Moretz, Jena Malone, Kellan Lutz, and Tyler Posey.



The fanfare gets started with the 2014 MMVAs RED CARPET SPECIAL on Sunday, June 15 at 8 p.m. ET, exclusively on Much, followed by the live show at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, simulcast on Much, CTV, and CTV GO, and streamed on much.ca.



In advance of the live awards, fans can prep for all the MMVA action as co-hosts Lauren Toyota and Scott Willats take viewers inside the biggest event of the summer with the 30-minute,
original special MMVA FIRST LOOK, Saturday, June 7 at 7 p.m. ET,on Much and Saturday, June 14 at 4:30 p.m. ET on CTV. MMVA FIRST LOOK provides an exclusive peek at the incredible MMVA stages, show-stopping performers, and A-list presenters that are set to
rock this year's awards at Much HQ.

Kiesza

Calgary-born Kiesza smashed into the UK charts this spring with her
first #1 single ever, leading the charts by nearly double. "Hideaway"
marks the UK's fastest-selling debut single of 2014 and shows no signs
of slowing down in Canada. With a music education from B.C.'s Selkirk
College and a scholarship to the renowned Berklee College of Music in
Boston, Kiesza has been working towards stardom since she was 17.
Kiesza is set to play a number of festivals, including Glastonbury,
Wireless, The Great Escape, Lovebox, and Bestival. The 25-year-old's
debut album is packed with deep house sounds and soulful melodies, and
will be released this fall.


MAGIC!

Toronto born, L.A.-based band MAGIC! deftly mixes pop and rock, with
elements of reggae and soul, to shape their own unique sound. The
success of MAGIC!'s debut single, "Rude", continues strong, peaking at
#6 on iTunes Canada's Top Singles chart, holding at #7 in its 25th week
on the Hot 100, and enjoying its 18th week at #1 on the Emerging
Canadian Artists chart. Having sold over a million copies worldwide,
the single currently is charted in 37 countries, including the United
States, where it's being played across six different radio formats, and
is ranked #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The official VEVO video for the
hit has garnered more than 11 million views. On June 30th, Sony/Latium
Entertainment will release the band's debut album, Don't Kill the Magic.


Sam Roberts Band

Canadian singer-songwriter Sam Roberts has been on the scene since the early 2000s. His first album, The Inhuman Condition, quickly became one of the best-selling independent releases in
Canadian history. After signing with Universal Music in 2003, he has
released well-received albums including, We Were Born in a Flame, Chemical City, and Love at the End of the World. In 2011, Roberts released Collider, featuring Dave Nugent, Eric Fares, James Hall, and Josh Trager, with the Sam Roberts Band name. In 2014, Sam Roberts Band released its
fifth studio album, Lo-Fantasy, including the hit songs "We're All in This Together" and "Chasing the
Light." Sam Roberts Band has performed in some of the most prestigious
music festivals including Austin City Limits Music Festival,
Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, and alongside the Rolling Stones, and AC/DC,
and has also received six JUNO Awards and five MMVAs.


Virginia To Vegas Feat. Alyssa Reid

24-year-old Derik Baker is Virginia To Vegas, the wunderkind
singer/songwriter, hailing from Guelph, Ontario. Raised on his parents'
Elvis Presley record collection and cutting his teeth at a young age
writing songs for a variety of pop artists, Derik is a
multi-instrumentalist who was discovered by Canadian indie label Wax
Records in 2013. Upon releasing his debut single in January 2014, "We
Are Stars", featuring platinum-selling artist Alyssa Reid, Derik's
music instantly connected with fans internationally, topping radio
charts and becoming gold-certified in a mere 12 weeks.
