Clara's Big Ride for Bell Let's Talk rolls into Manitoba tomorrow

Leaving Saskatchewan for Manitoba tomorrow morning, June 12, Clara Hughes continues the journey to a stigma-free Canada in Brandon, Portage la Prairie and her hometown of Winnipeg

CARLYLE, SK, June 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Starting tomorrow and for the next 5 days, Canadian Olympian Clara Hughes brings her Big Ride for Bell Let's Talk to communities across Manitoba.

In Saskatchewan today, Day 90 of the Big Ride, Clara is riding from Weyburn to Carlyle and will attend a welcome event at 3 pm at the Rusty Relic Museum, 306 Railway Avenue West in Carlyle. Clara's Big Ride began March 14 in Toronto and she has since visited 9 provinces and all 3 territories. She's been riding across Saskatchewan since June 6, visiting Lloydminster, North Battleford, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn and Carlyle.

"I've met so many great people in communities throughout Saskatchewan, and I'd like to thank everyone here in Carlyle and across the province for joining me in the conversation to create a stigma-free Canada," said Clara. "Tomorrow I ride to Brandon, Manitoba to start sharing mental health stories with the people of my home province of Manitoba!"

Clara will visit the following communities during her 5-day Ride through Manitoba:

Brandon - June 12 to 13
On June 12, Clara will attend a community event taking place from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at the Healthy Living Centre, 2010 Louise Avenue.

Portage la Prairie - June 13 to 14
On June 13, Clara will attend "The City of Possibilities Celebrates Clara's Big Ride" taking place from 5:30 pm to 9 pm at the Canad Inns, 2401 Saskatchewan Avenue West.

Winnipeg - June 14 to 16
On June 14 at 2:30 pm, Clara will attend "Clara's Carnival," a welcome event at Clara Hughes Rec Park, 281 Henderson Hwy. This free family friendly event from 11 am to 4 pm features both yoga and cycling activities, including a bike skills and safety course and performance riding demonstrations.

In the evening, Clara will attend "Manitoba's Big Social For Clara's Big Ride" taking place from 7 pm to 12 am at the Manitoba Museum, 190 Rupert Avenue.

On June 16, Clara will participate in a school presentation at her alma mater, Elmwood High.

Each day of Clara's Big Ride in Manitoba includes presentations at schools and other community events organized by local Community Champions. More details on daily events and the Big Ride Community Champions can be found at Bell.ca/ClarasBigRide.
