More Canadians than ever surviving heart attacks and stroke, but not
enough are maintaining critical changes to prevent subsequent events
TORONTO, Feb. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - The following B-Roll is available by Video
On-Demand web download:
STORY SUMMARY: This year's report looks at findings from a unique poll of 2,000 heart
attack and stroke survivors (and their loved ones) and answers
important questions: Are survivors able to make and maintain
potentially life-saving behaviour changes? Are they receiving the
support they need to recover and thrive to the fullest? This year's
Report also investigates the current state of rehabilitation in Canada
and challenges around access and personal stories from survivors. One
such survivor is Olympic figure skater Isabelle Brasseur, who suffered
cardiac arrest while giving birth to her daughter. She knows first-hand
the importance of maintaining heart healthy behaviours and speaks to
her experiences and encourages all Canadians to take their health to
heart.
