PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board invites Pennsylvanians to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the 2014 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show during its run from March 1 through 9 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia. This year's theme, "ARTiculture," is a collaboration between flower show designers and the nation's great art museums to turn the exhibition space into a 10-acre living canvas of exquisite landscapes, gardens and floral arrangements.
In addition to the spectacular floral displays, show attendees will have the opportunity to meet Sandra Lee, the Emmy-winning expert in all things kitchen and home. Lee will sign bottles of Smirnoff Sorbet Light Vodkas on Thursday, March 6, from 5:30 p.m. in the Grand Hall near the Fine Wine & Good Spirits Store.
Following the bottle signing, Lee will join Chandler Carranza, spirits category manager for Fine Wine & Good Spirits, in the Smirnoff Lounge, to mix cocktails using Smirnoff Light Vodkas for Girls Night Out guests.
Lee is the host of four highly-rated culinary programs on the Food Network and the Cooking Channel, including "Sandra's Money Saving Meals," "Semi-Homemade Cooking," "Restaurant Remakes" and "Taverns, Lounges & Clubs." She also works with numerous philanthropic organizations, including UNICEF and Feeding America and is a spokesperson for Share our Strength's "No Kid Hungry" Campaign.
Daily tastings, featuring more than 100 wines and spirits from around the world, will be available for guests 21 years-old and older from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Special guest Martin Dawson, co-owner of classic English gin, Broker's Gin, will appear at the Fine Wine & Good Spirits tasting area from March 2 through March 8 during regular tasting hours to sign bottles, pose for pictures and provide information to consumers.
On Saturday, March 8, visitors can meet Four Roses Bourbon Master Distiller Jim Rutledge. Fine Wine & Good Spirits and Four Roses have partnered for the first time to bring Four Roses FWGS First Edition Barrel-Aged Bourbon. At the show, consumers can sample this unique bourbon, purchase a numbered bottle and have it signed by the master distiller himself. Supplies are limited. Rutledge will also pour from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the tasting area that day.
For added convenience, the PLCB has an onsite Fine Wine & Good Spirits Store, open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays, making it easy to purchase any favorites from the tastings.
Proceeds from the flower show support the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and its community outreach programs. For show tickets or more information, visit www.theflowershow.com.
The PLCB regulates the distribution of beverage alcohol and also operates more than 600 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide. Taxes and store profits are returned to Pennsylvania's General Fund. For more information, visit www.lcb.state.pa.us.
