VIA Integrates Apical's Assertive Display and Assertive Camera into its Latest Application Processors for Mobile Devices

Apical Ltd announces that VIA Technologies, Inc has licensed Apical's Assertive
Display and Assertive Camera subsystems for its new generation of mobile application
processors.



New application processors from VIA will now deliver industry-leading camera
performance by integrating Apical's Assertive Camera image signal processor subsystem. Now
in its fourth generation, this camera engine incorporates state-of-the-art imaging
functions, including sophisticated noise reduction for low-light photography and video HDR
using Apical's iridix local tone map engine coupled with fast, accurate exposure, color
and focus control in a high throughput, low-power core.



In addition Apical's Assertive Display embedded in the processors enables mobile
devices to deliver an unprecedented display experience. Assertive Display liberates
displays from the restrictions of viewing environment and removes the two major barriers
in the widespread adoption of multimedia services on mobile devices, enabling users to
watch movies or play games in any conditions including direct sunlight, and reducing the
power drawn by the display, significantly increasing battery life.
