Triumphant Return: Filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza Celebrates Winston Churchill's Return To The US Capitol

Triumphant Return: Filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza Celebrates Winston Churchill's Return To The US Capitol

Attends Unveiling of Churchill Bust Ceremony As Invited Guest

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dinesh D'Souza, Writer and Director of the #2 bestselling political documentary of all time, 2016: Obama's America is celebrating a small victory today at the Nation's Capitol. In the film, D'Souza addressed the curious removal of the bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office. A gift from British Parliament in 2001, it was removed by President Obama in 2009 and now resides in the home of the British ambassador to America. In 2016, D'Souza claimed that Obama returned the bust due to his lingering resentment against colonialism and Churchill's representation of it.

"Churchill was a lifelong colonialist, head of the colonial office, and the British prime minister who crushed the anti-colonial Mau Mau uprising in Kenya. And there is a personal side of this for President Obama: his father was arrested in connection with the Mau Mau revolt, and his grandfather Onyango Obama was also allegedly interned and tortured. So President Obama may think he has good reason to hate Winston Churchill," said Dinesh D'Souza in 2012 article in The Daily Caller.

Speaker of the House, John Boehner led a ceremony today at the National Statuary Hall in DC, unveiling a new bust of Winston Churchill, honoring him for his longstanding friendship to America. "Winston Churchill was the best friend America ever had," said Boehner as he passed the resolution allowing for the bust.

Dinesh D'Souza, in DC filming his follow up film America, scheduled for release on July 4, 2014, was invited to attend the event as a guest.

"Winston Churchill symbolizes the defense of Western civilization and the passing of leadership from Britain to America. He has become persona non grata in the Obama White House. So I am delighted to see him "resurrected" in the House, and I was pleased to be at the unveiling of the Churchill bust," says D'Souza
