A Miracle In Spanish Harlem is DigiNext's first feature-length drama. It's a family-friendly and magical story about love, faith and redemption. The movie has a Latin flavor, but its themes are universal.
It features acclaimed Latin American film and telenovela star Kate del Castillo in her first English speaking cinematic lead. Daughter of Mexican film and television legend, Eric Del Castillo, Kate portrays Eva O'Riley. Beautiful and alone, Eva feels a spark of romantic interest when she meets Tito (Luis Antonio Ramos), a widower struggling with the loss of his wife, his hope and his faith.
Tito is consumed by the pressures of trying to keep a failing business above water and caring for his two young daughters - Amanda (Fatima Ptacek) and Samantha (Brianna Gonzalez-Bonacci). Blind to the devotion of his family and friends, including his developmentally disabled employee Ernesto (Adrian Martinez), Tito's growing bitterness about his bleak circumstances overshadows the better parts of his character and drives him to actions that will add disgrace (and a very public dressing-down by journalist Geraldo Rivera in a cameo appearance) to his woes. Without a friend left on earth, nothing short of a miracle can relieve Tito's crushing and solitary burdens. However, miracles have been known to happen.
A Miracle In Spanish Harlem has been compared to the holiday classic, It's A Wonderful Life, with a contemporary storyline that will engage audiences with laughter, tears and circumstances of human relationships that everyone can relate to. While the film is unrated, it contains no crude humor, profanity, nudity, sexual scenes or drug use.
"Director and producer Derek Velez Partridge presents a tender story with an urban edge through characters that are fully dimensional and believable," said Nehst Chairman and Founder Larry Meistrich. "The sense of ensemble and balance he was able to cultivate in A Miracle In Spanish Harlem with a cast of individually strong performers is a significant achievement in his first feature. It bodes well for a future of additional audience-worthy films from an emerging talent."
"A Miracle In Spanish Harlem is a movie that can't easily be pigeonholed. While the story is set in a primarily Latino community, a majority of American families and individuals throughout the United States will relate to the life-changing events, personal challenges and moral struggles the characters experience throughout the film. Miracle's theme is spiritual, universal, and its message transcends any particular denomination. It's a family-friendly movie without being a movie just for children," said Bud Mayo, Digiplex CEO and Chairman. "With the recent success of films like Instructions Not Included and record breaking faith-based cinema events such as Kirk Cameron's Unstoppable, I believe that Miracle will have broad appeal for many segments of the mainstream movie-going public."

The movie's distributor, DigiNext, is a joint venture entertainment content distributor formed by Nehst Media Enterprises and Digital Cinema Destinations Corp. (NASDAQ CM: DCIN), better known as Digiplex Destinations - a rapidly growing exhibitor and innovative theater circuit. DigiNext is an innovator in the second golden age of indie distribution. Migration of commercial theaters from film to digital has opened the door to a wider range of entertainment choices on the big screen for consumers and better opportunities for independent filmmakers and their works. Since its launch in August 2012, DigiNext has been committed to providing theatrical distribution opportunities for talented but still below-the-radar directors and producers to reach appreciative audiences.
In August 2013, a powerful alliance was created between Digiplex Destinations and Screenvision, effectively creating a "virtual" distributor for features that can rival the larger independent distributors with its reach. As a result, the release of a documentary, The United States of Football, was presented at more than 130 theaters around the country, immediately placing it among the most widely distributed sports documentaries in exhibition history.
