The British Ambassador to Algeria, Martyn Roper, meets a group of senior managers from Radio Algeria after their return from a training provided by the BBC in London.
BBC Media Action project with Radio Algeria:
The Embassy is working with Radio Algeria, through our implementing partner, the BBC Media Action, to support Radio Algeria in their aim to become a public service broadcaster, delivering high quality programming using the most up to date communications techniques.
The project's purpose is to assist Radio Algeria in the process of transitioning into a Public Service Broadcaster. The BBC Media Action will deliver an integrated capacity-building programme for staff at all levels within Radio Algeria to:
Strengthen the organisation's Public Service Broadcasting values;
Build capacity among managers to lead the change process and among editors and journalists to produce public service oriented programming.
Create the necessary structures and systems to enable transition and help Radio Algeria prepare for the emergence of competition in a new media environment.
The BBC project is a multi-year project, which started on April 2012 and will end on March 2015, with a budget of over one million pounds.SOURCE UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office
