A Peaceful Warrior for Syria

A Peaceful Warrior for Syria

STRATFORD, Conn., Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In the moral footsteps of iconic American protest singers before him, like Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger, Dylan Connor is mad. He's mad about the plight of the people of Syria. He's mad that behind the slick reality show coverage of the war, beneath the veneer of the latest "Chemical Warfare" headlines, allegedly, babies continue to be murdered, family members are still disappearing and a nation is at the edge of the abyss. His job, as he sees it, is to make sure you know it!

Connor, a Stratford, Connecticut resident, professional musician and High School Latin teacher arrived at his present state of outrage by first falling in love with a Syrian-American woman, and then with Syria. He traveled there and was welcomed into the culture. He succumbed to the heat of the desert and the warmth of the people. When the troubles began, he offered to help in the best way he could - with original songs of protest. He hit the road, performing at humanitarian fundraisers for Syria in Utah, New Jersey, New York, Toronto, Ohio, Illinois, Florida and California. He produced music videos that have been played on Al Arabiya and Orient TV (Arab satellite news stations). A commemorative stamp, with Connor's image, was issued by the Stamps of the Syrian Revolution. He has become a peaceful warrior for the cause.

Now, he is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the release of a CD of his original songs for Syria called Blood Like Fire (Songs for Syria), a musical chronology that tracks the Syrian Revolution in song, from March 2011 to the present. An acoustic version of one of the tracks, "Not a Civil War," hit YouTube on September 8(th, )and has garnered comments like this one from Abed Dimashqi: "Thank you Dylan, because you simply said what so many politicians tried to hide." If like Dylan, you feel compelled to stand in solidarity with the Syrian people, you can become a backer of his new CD here at Kickstarter.
