Statement by the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of the 28th Annual Prix Gémeaux Gala
OTTAWA, Sept. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Canadian actors, writers, directors and
producers of French-language television and new media productions play
a vital role in the development of our culture.
The 28(th) annual Prix Gémeaux gala is an opportunity to celebrate the talent of
Canadian artists and creators whose works help shape our collective
identity and stimulate our economy.
Our Government is committed to supporting Canada's creative sector. In
2011-2012, film and television production in Canada was valued at $5.9
billion and created an estimated 132,500 full-time jobs. We are proud
to invest more than $600 million in this sector every year.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada,
I would like to acknowledge the Academy of Canadian Cinema and
Television for its efforts to promote and celebrate excellence.
Congratulations to all of this year's nominees and award winners.
