"Stars Under The Stars" Evening To Benefit American Ballet Theatre

Special Guests expected to attend include Jenna Elfman, Jane Seymour, Eva LaRue and Nigel Lythgoe

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- American Ballet Theatre (ABT) presents its annual Stars Under The Stars: An Evening in Los Angeles, September 12, 2013 at the Beverly Hills home of Jeanne and Anthony Pritzker. Co-Chaired by Avery and Andy Barth, LeeAnn and Ron Havner, Arthur Levine and Lauren Leichtman, Richard Merkin, and Laura and Jamie Rosenwald, the evening will feature dinner and a one-night-only special performance by the world-renowned artists of American Ballet Theatre including Principal Dancers Gillian Murphy and Cory Stearns; Soloists Misty Copeland and James Whiteside; and corps de ballet members dancing selections from the Company's unrivaled repertoire.

Stars Under The Stars raises funds to support the Company's extensive domestic and international touring, the creation of significant new works, and award-winning education and outreach programs, which are also held in California.

"We are thrilled to be back with Jeanne and Anthony Pritzker and to benefit from their generous hospitality," said ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. "As 'America's National Ballet Company,' it is our proud mission to perform in Southern California on a regular basis and to bring dance to America, and American dance to the world."

Universally recognized as one of the world's preeminent cultural organizations, American Ballet Theatre is proud to have been designated by both houses of the United States Congress as "America's National Ballet Company." Now in its seventh decade and long considered a national treasure, ABT upholds the enduring vision of excellence upon which the Company was founded in 1940. Few dance companies can equal the quality of ABT's productions, the range of its repertory, or the extent of its education programming.

ABT has been home to many of ballet's legendary stars - Mikhail Baryshnikov, Natalia Makarova, Carla Fracci, Cynthia Gregory, Alicia Alonso, and Fernando Bujones - and has become well known for its lavish productions of full-length ballets such as Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadere, and Romeo and Juliet. With a Company of 90 of the world's finest dancers, ABT performs for audiences of over 400,000 each year in New York City, Los Angeles, across the country, and around the world.
