Sports Bars Enjoy "Huge Success" During UFC Fight Nights

FEASTERVILLE, Pa., Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Close to 4,000 sports bars, restaurants, casinos and other commercial establishments across the United States will host thousands of Ultimate Fighting Championship viewing parties when Jon Jones defends his light heavyweight championship against Alexander Gustafsson on Saturday, Sept. 21 during UFC 165 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

Considered by many as the UFC's best pound-for-pound fighter, Jones (18-1) seeks his record-breaking sixth consecutive light heavyweight title defense when he faces Gustafsson (15-1). Jones currently shares the record with UFC hall of famer Tito Ortiz. The pay-per-view fight card starts at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.

Signed by the UFC as its exclusive commercial distributor, Joe Hand Promotions Inc. of Feasterville, PA, will once again provide the UFC commercial license to all the sports bars and restaurants across the U.S. It's a job Joe Hand Promotions has been doing since 2001, and the UFC benefits are paying off for its customers.

"UFC fight nights have been a huge success in San Diego," said Kevin Duffy, general manager at McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon in San Diego. "Sales generally increase upwards of 30% compared to a Saturday night without a fight card."

With the excitement that Jones generates, Saturday night's UFC 165 fight card should be no different. In fact, the next four UFC pay-per-view events, including UFC 165, could prove to be some of the most exciting and most watched fights in UFC history.

Pay-per-view events following UFC 165 include:

-- Oct. 19 UFC 166: Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos, heavyweight
championship
-- Nov. 16 UFC 167: Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks, welterweight
championship
-- Dec. 28 UFC 168: Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva, middleweight
championship; plus Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate, women's bantamweight
championship
When showing UFC pay-per-view events, commercial establishments must keep in mind that they need a commercial license. Residential pricing is only valid for private household accounts. Commercial businesses or other public viewing locations are subject to a UFC commercial license that must be purchased through Joe Hand Promotions. Without a UFC commercial license, an establishment can be subjected to pay-per-view piracy laws.
