San Francisco Art Exchange Presents "This Could Be You: Photographs & Paintings by Graham Nash"
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- "This Could Be You: Photographs & Paintings by Graham Nash" will debut at San Francisco Art Exchange August 24(th) thru the end of September. Graham Nash will make an artist appearance to sign purchased artwork at a gallery invitation-only reception on August 24(th) beginning at 7:00 PM. Press is invited to attend the exclusive event. San Francisco Art Exchange is located in Union Square at 458 Geary Street between Mason and Taylor.
Graham Nash has helped shape the world around him through ideas, innovations, and influential works of art for more than four decades. As a founding member of The Hollies, and Crosby, Stills & Nash - a band that has been called the "voice of a generation," Graham Nash has made his indelible mark as a music legend. His artistic creativity is vibrantly fluid alongside his accomplished career as a musician. He is also an internationally renowned photographer and digital imaging pioneer. The exhibition offers fans a rare treat to experience Graham Nash's transcendent photography and artwork.
Nash's artwork incorporates numerous techniques and styles, many of them a natural evolution of his experimentation with and long-time love of photography. Two of the new paintings, which will debut at this exhibition are "Blue Boat" and "Dave Mason." Both of those pieces started as photographs taken by Nash and evolved into dynamic pieces of artwork. Both of the paintings are ink and acrylic on canvas, with subject matter as diverse as the artist.
"I am honored that Graham has chosen to work with San Francisco Art Exchange to launch this show this month," Theron Kabrich, owner, said. "We look forward to this being the beginning of a long and successful relationship. He is surely a talent of many dimensions as his music has always shown and as this exhibition will attest. Added to my enthusiasm in working with him, however, is my admiration of his humanitarian commitments to investing his energy into the things that matter in life on a grand scale."
Nash's exquisite photography and artwork is innovative, lyrical, and majestic. His work spans decades and inhabits many creative worlds, extending well beyond rock n' roll. He incorporates progressive techniques to embolden the work, making his visual aesthetic lushly multi- dimensional.
Born in the coastal town of Blackpool, England and raised in Salford, near Manchester, Nash picked up a camera before a guitar; he was inspired by his father, an amateur photographer. Taking pictures of his family at age 11 proved life changing for Graham, who has said, "That was the first time I realized that I could see things differently." As a musician, he would go on to establish a legendary career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice - once with Crosby, Stills & Nash and once with The Hollies. He has been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame twice - both as a solo artist and with Crosby, Stills & Nash. But, alongside his successes in music, he's always pursued his journey as a visual artist.
In 1990, his passion for photography led him to establish Nash Editions. His company's original IRIS 3047 digital printer is now housed in the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution in recognition of his revolutionary accomplishments in the fine arts and digital printing world.
Beginning September 17th "Wild Tales: A Rock & Roll Life by Graham Nash" his candid and riveting autobiography will be released worldwide.
