Quiero Responder Que Si answers the call for Liturgical Quince Anos music
PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OCP, the nation's most trusted and sought-after publisher of Hispanic, Catholic worship resources has once again responded to needs of the multicultural church with Quiero Responder Que Si: 15 cantos para los Quince Anos.
Though conjuring images of fancy dresses and elaborate parties, the Quinceanera holds a special, spiritual meaning in Hispanic, Catholic culture. Marking the passage from childhood to adolescence, the Quince Anos celebration is a time for young people to renew their commitment to the church and thank God for the gift of life. It also holds an opportunity for parents and pastoral leaders to nurture growing faith.
"When it comes to liturgical celebrations of the Quince Anos, U.S. Latino communities were lacking repertoire," says Pedro Rubalcava, Director of Hispanic Ministries at OCP. "The rich texts and engaging melodies in this collection are a reflection of the beauty and importance of this occasion."
Inspired by this special custom, OCP created Quiero Responder Que Si: 15 cantos para los Quince Anos. The new bilingual CD features 15 songs that blend rock, pop and Latin-American styles creating a wide-variety of music to enrich preparation, Masses and rituals that surround the Quinceanera celebration.
Quiero Responder Que Si draws on the knowledge and talent of beloved composers like Eleazar Cortes, Santiago Fernandez, Mauricio Centeno, Juan J. Sosa, Pbro. and Carlos Rosas to bring a well-rounded repertoire that fits seamlessly within Catholic worship. "Vamos a la Casa del Senor" (Albert Coppo), based on Psalm 121/122 is a joyous processional song while "A Ti, Dios" (Jaime Cortez) is a beautiful rendition of the Te Deum hymn.
