The 5 Browns - Desirae, Deondra, Gregory, Melody, and Ryan - hit #1 on the Billboard Classical Albums chart with three separate albums - The 5 Browns, No Boundaries and Browns In Blue) and have appeared on 60 Minutes, Oprah and The Tonight Show.
The centerpiece of their upcoming album is a performance of The Rite of Spring and was recorded live on May 29, 2013--100 years to the day from its original premiere in Paris. Composed in 1913 by Igor Stravinsky for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, it was a controversial piece that sparked a riot in the packed theatre during its premiere. Produced by Adam Abeshouse, Grammy winner for Classical Producer of the Year in 1999, the live recording also features five-piano arrangements of three movements from Gustav Holst's The Planets and Danse Macabre, a tone poem by Camille Saint-Saëns. The Juilliard educated siblings will perform The Rite of Spring in its entirety at their Carnegie Hall debut.
The 5 Browns' book, Life Between the Keys, was published by Phoenix Books in 2009, and the group was featured in a PBS TV special, The 5 Browns In Concert, which aired on PBS throughout the country.
