Special Performance of L.A. Critics Choice Play The Rainmaker Kicks Off New Campaign to End Domestic Violence

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Actress Tanna Frederick was joined by her fellow cast members of the Rainbow Theatre Company's L.A. Critics' Choice play, The Rainmaker, as well as actors Michael Nouri, John Savage, Dey Young and The Canyons' Tenile Houston in launching Peace Over Violence's new campaign "Actors Over Violence." The actors came together to support Peace Over Violence and their mission of building healthy relationships, families and communities free from sexual, domestic and interpersonal violence. All proceeds from the weekend performances of The Rainmaker were donated to Peace Over Violence and will be used to support programs and direct services in the Los Angeles community.

The benefit at the Edgemar Theatre served to launch Ms. Frederick's newly formed Actors Over Violence, a group of top performers who will bring awareness to Peace Over Violence's important message and move violence prevention forward as a community ideal. "I am thrilled to be a part of such an important campaign," said Ms. Frederick. "I am so impressed and so moved by the work that Peace Over Violence does in trying to make our community a safer place."

Actors Over Violence will be an ongoing program drawing celebrated actors to lend their voice and support to POV's effort to end violence towards women, children, youth and men. Peace Over Violence is a social service nonprofit agency dedicated to the elimination of sexual and domestic violence and all forms of interpersonal violence. Established in 1971, it is Los Angeles' oldest domestic violence agency and provides crisis intervention services, violence prevention education to area youth, case management and counseling services to survivors of violence. One of the first agencies of its kind in the country, POV has been committed to social service, social change and social justice for 41 years. POV's innovative programs are comprehensive and include Emergency, Intervention, Prevention, Education and Advocacy services.
