WET and Pilgrim Studios, the Producers of Discovery's New Series The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius, Launch Viewer Contest

Viewers at Home Can Compete for Weekly Prize of $5,000

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- WET's Mark Fuller and Pilgrim Studios' Craig Piligian, Executive Producers of Discovery's new reality competition series, The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius, today announced a contest in conjunction with the show - airing Wednesday nights at 7pm E/P on Discovery - offering one innovative viewer per week the chance to win $5,000.

The contest dares at-home viewers to present their own solutions to the show's "Blueprint Challenge," put forth at the beginning of each episode to the show's contestants, then tested by two competing teams and judged by Fuller, show judge, scientist Dr. Christine Gulbranson, and a different Guest Judge each week.

Viewers have been entreating the judges for the chance to prove that they could do better than the show's contestants in creating the design "blueprint," which ultimately determines the elimination competition for the episode.

Said Fuller, "Since this show is about intelligence, innovation, and inspiring the country's youth to embrace S.T.E.M. - science, technology, engineering, and math - the judges and producers decided to give the public a chance to get in on the action. I say to all the viewers who've told us they're chomping at the bit, 'You've told me you could do better; well, here's your chance. It looks easy sitting in front of your TV, watching the contestants sweat. Put your brainstorm where your mouth is, and earn some cold, hard cash!'"

Viewers will have the opportunity after each week's new episode to send Fuller and Gulbranson their solution to the challenge faced by the contestants in that week's episode, and the chance to win $5,000 each week. A total of up to $25,000 may be awarded over the next five weeks.

"A master's in engineering is not necessary to enter, only a great idea," added Fuller.

Gulbranson, a nanotechnologist and innovator in renewable energy, will join Fuller in judging the weekly submissions.

Said Executive Producer Craig Piligian, "Maybe our audience is full of big brain geniuses - let's see!"

Viewers should check their local listings for show times and go to wetdesign.com/challenge/ to review the contest rules and submission guidelines, and to submit their entries. Winners will also be posted on this site.
