Upcoming psych-thriller 'Double Booked' reserves renowned Canadian actor for starring role

Upcoming psych-thriller 'Double Booked' reserves renowned Canadian actor for starring role

LOS ANGELES, May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Calgary actor Cody Sparshu, one of
Canada's up and comers to watch, is starring in the forthcoming feature
film, Double Booked. From writer-director Neil Webb, Double Booked is currently wrapping post-production and is bound for the independent
film festival circuit this summer.

The film follows a group of friends who go to a remote cabin to get
away, but their stay is interrupted when they find a couple that claims
to have already booked the cabin. Tensions mount between the groups as
their pasts are revealed and true intentions become clear.

Sparshu plays Jeff in the ensemble cast. "I've played soldiers, cowboys,
cops, even a stalker," he said. "In this, I played a hipster and it was
a new type of character for me to explore. Jeff is very dynamic. He's a
guy who feels like he has nothing to stand up for, and no conviction
for anything. Jeff learns what's important to him and what is worth
standing up and having a backbone for."

Webb said, "Cody goes above and beyond creating a character from a place
deep down, bringing to it both the truthfulness of himself as well as
creating the unique intricacies the character requires to tell the
story. A lot of actors play themselves in every film, but Cody really
uses his training and on-set experience to enhance characters and
present relatable dimensions."

Sparshu is previously known for acting in Cody Fitz, an independent drama that won the Calgary International Film Festival
Special Jury Prize, Best Drama and Best Cinematography awards at The
Indie Gathering 2012 and Best Screenplay at the World Music and Film
Festival. He has also appeared in Poker Girls, Pet Heroes,Missing Link and the upcoming No Good Deed, in which US soldiers question their purpose during the US-Afghan-Iraq
war after Osama bin Laden was captured. Sparshu has also recently acted
in the forthcoming period drama, Drawing Home, starring Julie Lynn Mortensen and Juan Riedinger.

Sparshu is next acting in Fortune's Ashes, a short film set in the 1930s from director Dylan Pearce (I Think I Do), which is set to shoot in May. He will also star opposite Gemini
nominated actor Shaun Johnston (Heartland) in Hurt, a western that's eyeing a summer shoot and fall release. Sparshu is
repped by Kelsea Forzani of Calgary's Details Talent.
