NEW YORK, March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of its Centennial activities, The Rockefeller Foundation took a bold step today towards sharing its expertise with the world through the release of the first book in its Centennial Series, Beyond Charity: A Century of Philanthropic Innovation, and the launch of the Rockefeller Archive Center's online exhibit, 100 Years: The Rockefeller Foundation, a project funded by a Rockefeller Foundation grant.

Beyond Charity shows how the evolution of the Foundation's innovative practices have helped to shape the direction and pattern of philanthropy over the course of one hundred years. The book, which includes a foreword by President Bill Clinton, is one of six books the Foundation will release over the course of its Centennial year, with each book providing important case studies for people around the world who are working "to promote the well-being of humankind." Upcoming books in the series focus on lessons learned from the Foundation's work in the fields of agriculture and health, and three others explore the Foundation's work in Africa, Thailand, and the United States.

100 Years: The Rockefeller Foundation brings together some of the most important records held at the Rockefeller Archive Center in Sleepy Hollow, New York. The online exhibit enables visitors to explore the work of one of America's oldest philanthropies as it confronted global and domestic challenges in health, agriculture, education, and many other fields.
