Massive Interactive Provides Boost to US IPTV Industry

International entertainment and video technology leader debuts in North America

NEW YORK, March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Massive Interactive, an international leader in video on demand (VOD), over-the-top TV (OTT TV) and IPTV software and services today announced that it has expanded its worldwide footprint to North America. The London and Sydney based company, which has now opened its offices in New York City, is already seeing traction from US telcos, major studios, TV networks and video content suppliers. As part of the expansion, Massive has hired Alexander Drosin as President, North America. The expansion underscores the rapid growth in the TV Everywhere industry landscape and highlights the needs of large video service providers to adopt proven enterprise solutions for the delivery of their consumer video services. Massive Interactive's technology and nearly 20 years of experience in the space working with companies like the BBC, British Telecom, Sky Television, Telstra, Channel 5 (UK) and Foxtel as well as a long list of airlines position the company as uniquely capable in a rapidly evolving industry.

Already established as a trailblazer overseas, Massive Interactive is looking to take advantage of their unique experience to solve the most common problems that North American content providers face as they seek to manage, distribute and merchandise video to consumers across an ever-growing array of devices and platforms.

As President, North America for Massive Interactive, Alex Drosin brings over 20 years of experience within the entertainment industry. Prior to joining Massive, Alex spent several years establishing The Filter, a bespoke B2B recommendation solution backed by Peter Gabriel, in the North American marketplace. Alex was previously President of Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video Enterprises (BVE) where he focused on establishing a licensing and distribution presence around the world for "Saturday Night Live." Alex left BVE in 2005 to establish Glowcast Ventures with Ken Seiff, the founder of Bluefly.com.

What's Unique?
Massive Interactive has created the first truly cross-platform development framework tailored specifically for OTT TV, VOD and IPTV service platforms. The Massivision UI Framework allows content owners, distributors and third-party developers to deliver a completely unified experience across multiple platforms and devices from a single core application - from iOS to Android to Xbox, PS3, Smart TVs and a host of other consoles. This dramatically lowers development costs and time-to-market and increases operational efficiencies.

Massive Interactive also supplements its technology with unmatched professional services and industry expertise, tailoring their offerings to the specific needs of each client. Last year Massive Interactive's services division designed the multi-device user experience for the highly acclaimed BBC coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games - as well as BBC News, Weather and Sport for connected devices.

"We are thrilled to officially have a presence in North America. In an evolving and chaotic industry arena where the traditional models for the distribution and consumption of entertainment are being turned on their heads, there are a lot of silver bullet claims by technology providers. There is no silver bullet yet for multi-screen IPTV service delivery, but there are elegant and efficient solutions for large enterprises," said Ron Downey, Chairman and CEO of Massive Interactive. "Creating a functional, unique, cost-effective multi-device EPG, linear TV, VOD experience across a host of consumer-facing connected platforms requires a combination of deep TV and online video technology experience, continuous R&D and astute horizon analysis. We're going to stick to these disciplines and work hard in North America to be known as the people who truly enable the 'everywhere' in TV Everywhere."
