Genesis Publications Debuts Limited Edition SIX-STRING STORIES In Tandem With Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival

NEW YORK, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Genesis Publications has partnered with Eric Clapton to document his entire career through the tools of his trade: his guitars. Using Clapton's own words, SIX-STRING STORIES presents nearly 300 instruments from Clapton's legendary collection. Background information for each guitar and archival photography spans five decades, beginning with his early days through the psychedelic sixties, stripped-back seventies, electric eighties and unplugged nineties, right up to his fourth guitar and gear auction in 2010 benefitting The Crossroads Centre.

SIX-STRING STORIES will be presented as a 2,000 piece limited-edition with each copy signed by Eric Clapton, hand bound in cherry red leather to match Clapton's famous Gibson ES-335, with gold and silver blocking, housed in a silk-screened buckram slipcase. The book's 376 pages are edged in gold.

"The Crossroads Centre is very close to our hearts at Genesis Publications not least because the company's late director, Brian Roylance, played an early role in the Centre's founding. It is then a great honor to create our third book with Eric Clapton, the stunning new limited edition, 'Six-String Stories'. By telling his story through his guitars, Eric's book takes an original look at his legendary career. The result is a fascinating limited edition, the proceeds of which benefit the life-changing work of this important recovery centre," said publishers Nicholas & Catherine Roylance.

The guitars of SIX-STRING STORIES are placed in chronological order and show Clapton's instruments and amps as symbols of his deeply influential musical journey. Clapton recalls the instruments he bought to emulate his heroes, the guitars with unknown origins that became their own legend, the ones that never left his side, and the legacy they left behind.

Genesis is partnering with the Crossroads Guitar Festival on April 12-13 at New York's Madison Square Garden. A copy of SIX-STRING STORIES will be included in each of the three grand prize Guitar Center Flyaway Sweepstakes winners' packages, as well as in some very special Crossroads Guitar Festival VIP packages available for purchase through Guitar Center Stores and Private Label Experiences.

Fans can actually see and hear the guitars. Playlists and concert dates accompany the instruments that were used on million-sellers and at mind-blowing performances. Included within the book is a 50-year documentation of Clapton's performance history that allows the reader to further reference the guitars against Clapton's life's work. Historical and technical information is provided for every piece of Clapton's vast collection. Each guitar story is complete with breathtaking photos that show the beauty of each design and the wear and tear that is often caused by years on the road. The instruments are also shown in play, with performance shots of Clapton taken by over 80 of the world's best photographers, including David Bailey, Terry O'Neill, Dominique Tarle and Lord Snowdon.

Clapton and Genesis first collaborated 20 years ago on 24 NIGHTS and LIVE IN JAPAN, now both sold-out and highly sought after editions
