HBO's Award-Winning 'GAME OF THRONES' Will Premiere At Texas A&M, Part Of George R.R. Martin Visit
COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Texas A&M University will host an advance screening of the season premiere of the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones" on March 22. The event will feature an appearance by George R.R. Martin, the author of the best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire," on which the program is based.

"A Special Evening with Famed Writer George R.R. Martin" is a free event and begins at 6:30 p.m. on March 22 in Rudder Auditorium with a lecture from the best-selling sci-fi/fantasy author, followed by a brief Q&A session. Fans will be given the opportunity to ask Martin about the show as well as his career which includes stints writing for the 1980s "Twilight Zone" revamp and the series "Beauty and the Beast."
Following the lecture and Q&A, "Game of Thrones" Episode 1, Season 3 will be screened beginning at 7:45 p.m. with an introduction provided by Martin. The episode will premiere on HBO on March 31.
Due to the nature of the content of "Game of Thrones," viewer discretion is advised. A brief intermission is planned to allow guests the opportunity to stay or leave following Martin's lecture. No one under the age of 17 will be permitted to the screening.
While the event is free and open to the public, tickets are required for admission. Tickets may be picked up at the MSC Box Office on the first floor lobby of Rudder Tower.
Martin's campus visit is hosted by Texas A&M's Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, MSC Aggie Cinema (a Texas A&M student-led organization) and HBO.
This will be the final event of a two-night campus visit by Martin to promote the opening of an exhibit of his works at the Cushing Memorial Library titled "Deeper Than Swords." The exhibit will run from March 22 through December and feature objects, editions and manuscripts from Martin's career, including early letters and stories, up to his most recent writings. The exhibit is also free and open to the public.
Texas A&M's Cushing Memorial Library has been the official repository for the vast work of the notable author since 1993.
