AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation Premieres Vignette Honoring The Volunteers Of The 2013 Sundance Film Festival

AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation Premieres Vignette Honoring The Volunteers Of The 2013 Sundance Film Festival

NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

WHO: Fashion Designer and social activist,
Kenneth Cole & the 2013 Sundance Film
Festival

WHAT: AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation,
and the Sundance Institute created a
vignette titled "Heroes Don't Wear
Capes" to celebrate the hard work of
the volunteers of the 2013 Festival.
Written by Kenneth Cole Productions
and directed by Ricki Stern and Annie
Sundberg of Break Thru Films
(directors of the documentaries
Knuckleball! and Joan Rivers: A Piece
of Work), the piece is a follow up to
last year's vignette starring Derek
Waters. In this year's spot, Waters
leads his army of dedicated volunteers
to help Alan Cumming, Rachel Dratch,
and Ed Burns with their minor crises
to prove that no job is too big or too
small for "The real stars of
Sundance."

"Heroes Don't Wear Capes" will debut
on Volunteer Appreciation Day,
January 23rd, at ALL film screenings
and theaters at the Festival. Signage
featuring a QR code enabling people
to watch the vignette on their mobile
devices and reminding them to thank
the volunteers for their tireless
efforts will be also displayed
throughout the Festival on the 23rd.

"This is the second year we were
afforded the privilege of making a
short vignette for the volunteers at
the festival," says Kenneth Cole.
"We hope it can celebrate all that
they do and acknowledge them as the
real stars of Sundance."

For the ninth year, Kenneth Cole has
designed and donated the uniform worn
by the 2,300+ Sundance Film Festival
volunteers and staff. Presented on
day one of the festival, this year's
iconic style is a water-resistant,
vibrant red jacket with panel
quilting and removable black sleeves
that provide a bold color contrast.

Kenneth Cole has been an advocate for
the Institute's mission and dedicated
supporter of Sundance Film Festival
since 2003, when he joined the board
of trustees.
