Rising Above the Noise, Pavoh.org Connects With Young Musicians -- Announces New England Contest

BOSTON, Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Amidst a sea of noise about improving access to music education, a new non-profit is taking a different tack to promote music education. Pavoh, Inc. is connecting directly with young, aspiring musicians and creating access through a new online "Zine," Pavoh.org. Today they announced the Pavoh Featured Artist Contest for New England musicians aged 19 and under to showcase the work of young artists representing each of 10 genres from hip-hop to opera. Winners will appear on the website and a Pavoh.org CD. Deadline for entries is Nov. 30, 2012.

This "Zine" which encourages users to "Make Your Music" has been gaining momentum since its launch in September, and is a resource to help young musicians make music or play at a higher level- in any music genre.

"These days, all music is crossover. That's what is so exciting about being a musician today," said Henry Hoagland, singer songwriter and editor for Pavoh.org. "This is the kind of site I would have used as a young musician. It's smart and easy to use."

The Pavoh.org homepage features music news geared to a young audience, a Twitter feed, and two choices: Learn or Play? Depending on your interest, you can choose to: Learn about music genres, styles, and fundamentals; or find new ways to Play, market, or advance your music through schools, opportunities and gigs. It's the kind of site to bookmark and re-visit for updated information such as contest and scholarship deadlines.

"Our goal is to make Pavoh.org the go-to music news source for young people, creating value with original content and community," said Pavoh Founder, Blogger and mom of three, Laura Lamere. "Created for children and teens, the site is just as helpful for parents, music teachers, and other educators -- it can help start a conversation or advance a career."

Pavoh.org is a creation of Pavoh, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on improving access to music education. The name Pavoh comes from the constellation 'Pavo' and symbolizes its "connect-the-dots" mission. Founder, Laura Lamere is a parent without a music background who needed to educate herself about what was available for her children. Her research became Pavoh. Complete contest details are available on Pavoh.org, Facebook and Twitter. Contest Email: contests@pavoh.org. General inquiries: info@pavoh.org.
