The viewing will take place as part of the Social Innovation Fast Pitch (SIFP) event on Thursday October 18th, which is being produced by Social Venture Partners Seattle (SVP), and will feature a keynote by Nathan Myhrvold, founder of Intellectual Ventures and creator of the Global Good Program. The event is a competition between local social entrepreneurs, who are competing for funding of projects that will have a sustainable impact on Puget Sound's social and environmental challenges.

"Considering the focus of our event is all about providing social innovators with a larger voice and opportunity for creating change, we felt there was no better way to inspire our attendees than to showcase a social innovator like Ressmeyer and his creative vision for a better tomorrow," says SIFP founder Will Poole. "We feel lucky to be getting a sneak peak of footage from a future film that will most certainly have a huge impact on the way people around the world think and feel about some of our biggest global issues."

Explains Ressmeyer, "Over the course of my 37 years working as a writer, photographer and filmmaker, my assignments opened the world to me in remarkable ways. I've documented everything from space exploration to new energy sources, medical research and volcanoes. Through these experiences, I talked with some of the world's most renowned scientists, engineers and futurists. They not only believe a better future is possible, they know solutions exist for every one of our planet's problems, from climate change to inequality and war. This documentary will explore those solutions and share a message of hope and empowerment to take action."

Today, Ressmeyer is being named PhotoMedia Photography Person of the Year and is featured in the Fall 2012 issue (due out October 18). This award comes in recognition of Ressmeyer's tremendous leadership among his colleagues in the photography and filmmaking industries, as well as his humanitarian efforts to advance the cause of scientific exploration and search for solutions to the world's social and environmental challenges.

Says Ressmeyer, "My perspective on life was transformed by many amazing experiences, especially being diagnosed with juvenile diabetes 45 years ago when there were no reasonable solutions available for control and survivability. Today, thanks to revolutionary technology, I am able to live a normal life and spread the message that when people believe and know that they can create change, humanity makes great strides."
