Company offers singers free throat drops

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The fat lady has something to sing about! Pine Brothers, makers of the eponymous throat drop, has announced that their products are being offered free to America's professional opera singers. The company, which was founded in 1870, and is renowned for its unique "softish" drop, made the declaration in front of New York's Metropolitan Opera House yesterday. Pine Brothers company spokesperson, David Roach, remarked, "Pine Brothers has a long and storied history of being used by musical performers. We believe it's hands down the most effective, most delicious throat drop on the market for mild sore throat irritation. And who's got a bigger investment in their throat than an opera singer?"

Professional opera singers need only visit the company's website, pinebros.com, and click on the link. The site, which features a comical image of a Valkyrie, with Pine Bros packages impaled on her horns, promises one free package per singer per year. Thus far interest in the promotion has been strong. Asked whether giving away freebies is good business, Roach replies, "Clearly there's a marketing aspect to this, but our owner, Victoria Knight-McDowell, is an opera enthusiast and she thought, 'Why not do something nice for the opera performers, and let them know they're appreciated?'"

Pine Brothers is believed to be America's very first commercially produced throat drop. Customers have been loyal to the brand for over 140 years because of its unique 'softish' consistency and its effectiveness. The drops have enjoyed a renewed popularity with actors from Hollywood and the Broadway stage, many of whom order directly by the case from Pine Brothers' Pebble Beach corporate office. Sales for the drops, according to Roach, have grown 5 fold over last year. "They work, plain and simple, and the fact that they're almost unbelievably delicious, doesn't hurt," says Roach, who has been enjoying Pine Brothers since he was a boy in New Jersey in the early 1960's. Before purchasing Pine Brothers, owner Knight-McDowell, created and then sold the popular Airborne brand dietary supplement. Pine Brothers can be found nationally at stores like CVS and Safeway or via the web at Pinebros.com.
