PITTSBURGH, Oct. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Two Pittsburgh-based actors, Bob Rak and Leah Hillgrove, announce the release of the "Twelve Days of Pittsburgh N'at" parody on the familiar, "Twelve Days of Christmas" carol. Sung in 'Pittsburghese,' the two actors play-up some of the region's best-known and loved places, phrases and occurrences.

The song, written by Bob Rak, had its inception in 2008, during a vacation where the actor heard a Hawaiian spin on the 'Twelve Days of Christmas' carol. "When I heard the song, I began replacing the Hawaiian lyrics with Pittsburgh slang in my born-and-bred McKees Rocks accent," said Bob Rak. "My wife's laughter pretty much sealed the deal and the song was born."

But it wasn't quite that easy. It took four years to hone the lyrics and find the time and talent to produce and perform the song. An active actor in Pittsburgh's Community Theater circuit, Rak knew Leah Hillgrove, daughter of Pittsburgh radio announcer Bill Hillgrove, would be the perfect counterpart for the venture.

"Leah's comedic and acting skills, not to mention her Pittsburgh accent, were perfect," Rak explained. "We've acted together many times and I also enjoyed her performance in 'Nunsense' and many other productions so I knew she'd be great." Rak also tapped his brother-in-law, Ed Selker, a pianist and accordionist, to accompany the two; and New Perspective, a Pittsburgh-based video company, produced the song and accompanying video.

The song can be downloaded from the group's website, www.12daysofpittsburgh.com or via iTunes, YouTube, Amazon.com and other popular digital music sites. The trio also has social media sites for fans and followers of the song: Facebook (www.facebook.com/12daysofpittsburgh), YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/12DaysofPittsburgh) and Twitter (@12daysofPgh).

The trio, which is planning future collaborations, is also available for live, 'sing-along' performances of the song for personal or business holiday events. For more information, visit www.12daysofpittsburgh.com or call 412.221.4550.
