Four Color Zack Takes All At The Red Bull Thre3style World Finals

Seattle Native Wins Over Brazil And Chile In Front Of Sold Out Chicago Crowd

CHICAGO, Sept. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With the crowd breaking into thunderous chants of "USA!" United States' Four Color Zack took home a decisive victory on his home turf at the 2012 Red Bull Thre3style World Finals at the Metro in Chicago. Showered in confetti, the Northwest export accepted his trophy flanked by his fellow world finals competitors, including second place selection Nedu Lopes of Brazil and third place selection DJ Drummer of Chile. DJ Shub (Canada), DJ Nicco (Jamaica) and D. Beam (Spain) rounded out the remaining six finalists who made it to the global stage. In the end, however, it was Four Color Zack who showcased his technical ability, passion and knack of party rockin' during his 15-minute set.

"It's not only special because I won on my home turf," said Four Color Zack, moments after his monumental win. "It's special because I was given a chance to compete against some of the best competition in the world. It's the best party you'd ever want to be a part of."

Four Color Zack earned his trip to the world finals thanks to a national final mix that pulled "big reactions out of unexpected songs." After being knocked out of the competition on day two and brought back to the world finals as a wild card, Four Color Zack didn't leave anything to chance, pulling from an arsenal of well-known tracks that spanned from Aha to Alicia Keys, the Ramones to Rhianna and back through a bevy of slick vocal drops. Most impressively -- to both the audience and the judges looking on -- was the balance of technology in play throughout his set. Four Color Zack brought a dose of DJ culture in every sense, keeping his stance widened enough to respect the principles of turntablism while nailing the agility needed to execute live triggering on a MPD and working the crowd without missing a beat.

In the end, the trio of judges -- including renowned hip-hop legend DJ Jazzy Jeff, fast-handed turntablist Skratch Bastid and the illustrious Cosmo Baker -- picked Four Color Zack over the five international competitors for his dedication and passion.

"Picking a winner tonight wasn't an easy decision," said Baker, "but it was clear to all three of us that Four Color Zack was extremely passionate about his craft tonight. It showed on the stage and definitely spoke to the audience."

Baker and DJ Jazzy Jeff doubled as headliners for the evening along with ?uestlove of the world famous Roots, the Philadelphia-based band that moonlights as the musical accompaniment for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."

Throughout the week, the innovative, top-of-the-line structure behind Red Bull Thre3style put DJs head-to-head to prove who is the world's best party rocker. The judging criterion includes track selection, creativity, stage presence, mixing skills and audience participation. Most importantly, each DJ must incorporate three different genres of music without losing the audience. The 2012 Red Bull Thre3style World Finals in Chicago included 18 participants from Azerbaijan to Australia, Chile to Bolivia, Canada to Columbia, Jamaica to South Korea and everywhere in between.
