One Christmas Story: People Rich in Spirit

Major Media Announcement for CBS Christmas Eve Broadcast Special

ALLENTOWN, Pa., June 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Odyssey Networks, the largest multi-faith media coalition in North America, will be making a major announcement for its upcoming Christmas Eve television special to broadcast nationally on CBS Television: One Christmas Story: People Rich in Spirit, a story of hope and Renaissance set in the small city of Reading, Pa., on Thursday, June 14 at Hope Lutheran Church, 601 North Front Street, Reading. The Collegiate Church of New York City (www.collegiatechurch.org) will also be recognized for financial support of the broadcast and for providing a special gift to alleviate poverty in Reading.

Recently, Reading, Pa. was in the national spotlight as a town hit hard by the recession and the loss of its manufacturing base over the past 20 years. It is one of America's poorest small cities working hard to make a comeback. People of all faiths in Reading and Berks County have come together to address the city's problems. Odyssey Networks last visited Reading last year to tell the story of faith in action - that of a community helping those most in need.

The return of Odyssey Networks for a holiday tribute originates at Reading's Hope Lutheran Church and features choirs and congregants from Reading's many houses of worship. The Christmas Eve special will air on December 24, 2012 at 11:30 p.m. with glorious choral music and stories of faith demonstrated by Reading residents.

One Christmas Story film production will take place in the Reading between now and November. It is planned to be a joyous celebration of Christmas, making the story relevant to the world today, and will tell the larger story of the many people of different faith traditions who bring hope to Reading.

As a non-profit organization, Odyssey Networks seeks to raise the remaining funds needed to support the filming of Reading for national broadcast with a fundraiser hosted by Reading area clergy - Pastors Michael Bennethum, Fred Opalinski, Rick Summy and Mary Wolfe - along with Rev. Eric C. Shafer, Senior Vice President of Odyssey Networks, at The Abraham Lincoln, A Wyndham Hotel, in Reading, June 14, 5:00-8:00 p.m. To make an online donation, visit www.odysseynetworks.org or send a donation payable to "Odyssey Networks" to 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 530, New York, NY 10115.
