Hip new event features hot bands, top shelf tipples, and famously sumptuous oysters

MORRO BAY, Calif., June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The first annual Central Coast Oyster Festival will be held Saturday, June 16 at the Morro Bay Golf Course from 12 P.M. to 8 P.M.

This refreshingly contemporary, zero waste event will celebrate the world-renowned oysters of Morro Bay with an expansive view of the Morro Bay Oyster Farm and the tastes and textures of Morro Bay Oyster Company oysters, widely considered among the best in the nation.

Dozens of chefs from across the area will compete for the honor of preparing the best oyster dish, and attendees will be invited to taste their sumptuous efforts. Local oyster shuckers will also be invited to demonstrate their shucking prowess before an audience. For a brush with romance, visitors can enter the Aphrodisiac Lounge, designed by whimsical Los Angeles-based collective, The DoLab,and sample evocative foods such as oysters, chocolate, wine and even absinthe.

To complement the flavors of fresh, local fare, a full day's line-up of top notch entertainment will perform on the Oyster Festival stage, including multi-talented internet sensation, Walk Off The Earth, Bay Area-based Hot Buttered Rum, electronic dance music group, TROPO, and gritty blues players, The Neon Russell Band.

The Central Coast Oyster Festival will benefit OPTIONS Family of Services, a nonprofit organization serving the disabled or persons with developmental disabilities and persons with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). OPTIONS provides a wide array of flexible programs that are customized for each individual they serve, with community accessibility emphasized at every level. Services include residential living supported living, rehabilitation therapy, day programing and vocational training.
