BitCandy's New 'Curator' Program Rewards Fans for First Music Discoveries

BitCandy's New 'Curator' Program Rewards Fans for First Music Discoveries

LOS ANGELES, May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The BitCandy Music Filter today announced their "Curator" program, which allows the everyday fan to receive both credit and rewards for their new music discoveries. Along with the announcement, BitCandy released a free 15-track compilation of indie artists, discovered via BitCandy's Curators, who are in fact, everyday music fans who have their finger on the pulse of new breaking music.

BitCandy's creator (whose identity remains a secret) remarked on the program: "The new music tastemakers today are no longer the record executives sitting in their cushy corner offices, but more so the savvy music kid who's on the blogosphere 24/7. Today, a music fan in rural Alaska, with a high broadband connection, can discover "the next big artist" as much as the seasoned record label veteran."

Getting the word out, however ... is an entirely different issue, and it's exactly the amplification and discovery tools that BitCandy provides as a music filter.

So how does it work? The process is simple. A fan submits their favorite new music discovery. If the artist is not in the BitCandy system and approved, the fan is given full credit for that music find. This original fan also receives a coveted Curator profile and is linked to that artist. Curators are also offered the chance to write for BitCandy's music blog. As a bonus, if BitCandy signs the artist to their publishing or recording division, the Curator receives a 20% cut of any future net earnings for that artist.

"BitCandy gives music fans not only the platform they need to promote the artists they love, but to receive the notoriety, social credit and potential income as well."

The beta program proved such a success that BitCandy compiled 15 of these new music discoveries in a free Summer Compilation, in partnership with those artists. The compilation is available now for a free download at BitCandy's Facebook page and includes new indie and alternative pop stars such as: Capital Cities, Coco Morier, Mother Falcon, Big Sir, Paper Lions, So Many Wizards, Super Mash Bros and more...

"If you haven't yet heard of these artists, that's a good thing," says BitCandy's creator. "It's exactly what the Curator program is about ... and also where fans can listen to music free via BitCandy's music blog."

BitCandy also prides themselves on their fully licensed free radio on Internet, handpicking today's breaking indie, electro and alternative pop gems from the blogosphere and organizing them in a humanized playlist.

Based in Los Angeles, BitCandy was bootstrapped in 2011 and is the music filter and Internet radio for indie, electro and alternative pop. The owners and partners of the web property remain secret.
