Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras Announces The Noteworthy Night, a 65th Anniversary Gala Celebration

CHICAGO, Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, one of the nation's premier youth orchestras, is proud to announce The Noteworthy Night, a 65th anniversary gala celebration on February 4, 2012, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. This year's event, themed "Some Enchanted Evening," will feature the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, exciting auction items and exceptional cuisine.

CYSO's full 120-member Symphony Orchestra will perform a selection of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classics under the baton of Music Director Allen Tinkham. Norm Winer, long-time program director at WXRT radio, will be the special emcee for the evening's festivities, which raise funds for youth music training and education programs of CYSO.

From its inception in 1946, CYSO has grown into one of the very best youth orchestras in the country and now provides orchestral instruction to more than 450 students age 7 to 18 from the Chicago metropolitan area and reaches 2,500 Chicago Public School students and educators through Music Pathways each year.

"For the past 65 years the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra has been a place where children from across the city come to learn, grow and be inspired," said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. "We are proud to be home to this nationally renowned youth orchestra, a testament to the vibrant culture of Chicago and the talent of our youth."

A wide selection of items will be available for both silent and live auction. Among the live auction items are round-trip tickets on American Airlines to anywhere in Europe, a week's condominium stay in New York across from The Juilliard School and much more.

Award-winning WXRT Program Director Norm Winer said, "I'm honored to emcee the evening's festivities and have always been impressed by the caliber of music these dedicated kids perform. Chicago has long been the home of the finest musical talent and I'm proud to celebrate the CYSO's 65th anniversary and its commitment to helping our young musicians reach their dreams and goals. Many of these students go on to conservatories and to be music majors at the finest universities in the U.S. It's also a source of great pride to have alumni performing as professional musicians in symphonies around the world."

Sponsors of The Noteworthy Night include First Hospitality Group, ITW, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and Grant Thornton.
