Make New Year's Eve A Great Night!
Great Park's First Ever Family New Year's Eve Celebration
Event culminates with Great Park Balloon as it descends synchronized with the ball drop in Times Square
WHAT: Media is invited to cover the
countdown to the New Year at
9:00 p.m., with the descending
giant orange Great Park Balloon
synchronized with the mirrored
ball dropping in New York's
Times Square.
Thousands of southland families
will be celebrating the final
hours of 2011 with an evening
filled with live music and
dance, food and fun for all
ages in a safe, alcohol-free
environment. They will ring in
the New Year with a pop of
streamers, party hats and noise
makers.
The evening will reflect music
and images of each decade from
the 1940s to the present.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. local
dance groups will perform
dances from each era and
visitors can dance to classic
disco music of the 1970s in the
Hangar 244 Lounge.
Southland Mega Groove, a popular
5-piece band with versatile
vocalists, will rock the night
away with songs from bop to
classic rock starting at 7:00
p.m. At 8:30 p.m., they will
return to the stage as the Park
transforms into a modern party
atmosphere with tunes from the
1980s to the present.
