Reaction to Casey Anthony-Inspired Documentary Causes I Wanna Be On to Rethink Future Development and Distribution Strategies
NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- I Wanna Be On®, the innovative social media research and production company, is reevaluating its development and distribution models in light of reaction to its suspended documentary project, entitled "What Was I Thinking", inspired by the Casey Anthony trial.
The documentary was developed to increase awareness of Borderline Personality Disorder and its impact on families and children, but producers considered the timing of the Casey Anthony trial and potential backlash on film participants in suspending the production.
Vincent Presti, the CEO of I Wanna Be On, has received numerous comments from the public regarding this project and concluded that I Wanna Be On will benefit from a revised production strategy that focuses on identifying underreported social phenomena and increasing awareness through developing narratives from social media platforms and distributing content through both traditional and Internet media.
"We are currently developing a slate of informative and entertaining documentaries that will utilize Internet casting campaigns and require our company to revise its website and online strategy," noted Presti.
Documentaries under consideration include diverse topics that will begin to build audiences through innovative websites that will evolve into other media platforms.
According to Presti,
"It is imperative we generate attention on our forthcoming production slate prior to revealing details about the underlying business strategy and finalizing our financing and co-production deals. We are dedicated to pioneering new media projects that help identify and propose solutions for constructive debates, while generating maximum social awareness regardless of high-profile celebrity involvement."
