ONCE TV MEXICO to Debut Romantic Comedy Series "Soy tu Fan" (I'm Your Fan)

MEXICO CITY, Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ONCE TV MEXICO, a unit of Instituto Politecnico Nacional, is debuting its new series, Soy tu Fan (I'm Your Fan), a coproduction between ONCE TV MEXICO and Canana Films, which provides an innovative and unique twist on the contemporary romantic comedy. The series will air on ONCE TV MEXICO's international broadcast feed beginning Wednesday, September 28, at 9 p.m. PT/ 12 midnight ET, with special encore broadcasts on Sundays at 10 p.m. PT/1 a.m. ET.

Soy tu Fan stars Ana Claudia Talancon (Ladies Night, Virgin of Juarez, Tear This Heart Out) as Charly Garcia, a part-time marketing assistant and part-time student who recently broke-up with her long-term boyfriend Julian, portrayed by Oswaldo Benavides (La que no podia amar). Lonely and uncertain about her future, Charly's humor and intelligence is countered by her clumsiness and vulnerability, and is completely unaware of her own beauty, all of which makes her even more appealing to Nicolas Cruz, played by Martin Altomaro (Amar, Como Ama Una Mujer ).

Nicolas, an orphan, lives with his brother and works in biology after giving up on his medical studies. He is totally honest, perhaps naive, and his goal in life is to create a new family of his very own. When he first sees Charly, he is convinced she is the love of his life and mother of his future children and begins his relentless pursuit.

Taken aback by his emotional intensity and persistence, Charly, although flattered by the attention, rejects Nicolas' advances. But when Charly meets Julian's new girlfriend Vanesa, played by Edwarda Gurrola (Cephalopod, Collateral Damage), she takes the advice of her best friend Rocio (played by Bordertown's Maya Zapata) and begins to date Nicolas.

Over the 13 week series, Soy tu Fan examines the complexities and frailties of all of life's relationships, including those between men and women, parent and child, siblings and friends. Through the honest and humorous development of its characters, Soy tu Fan also demonstrates the unpredictability of attraction, and the challenges everyone faces in their quest for love, security and acceptance.

Based on the Argentinian mini-series of the same name, Soy tu Fan is executive produced by Pablo Cruz (Sin Nombre, Voy a Explotar) and Constanza Novick (El Tiempo no para, Sweethearts), who also serves as writer for the series along with Dolores Fonzi (Bottom of the Sea, Black Box) who created and starred in the original mini-series. Diego Martinez Ulanosky (MTV: Diary of Taboo, The Blacked Eyed Peas) is general producer for the series, with Diego Luna (Abel), Ana Claudia Talancon, Gael Garcia Bernal, Geminiano Pineda and Jorge Mondragon serving as producers. The series' episodes are directed by Alvaro Hernandez, Mariana Chenillo (Revolucion) and Gerardo Naranjo (Miss Bala, Revolucion).

Soy tu Fan also stars Fernando Carrillo as Willy; Veronica Langer as Marta, Charly's mom; Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco as Diego, Charly's brother; Marcela Guirado as Ana, Charly's brother's girlfriend; Johanna Murillo as Charly's friend Fernanda; Juan Pablo Medina as Fernanda's boyfriend Inaqui; Mariana Gaja as Carolina; Ivan Arana as Emilio; Alfonso Borbolla as Javier; Fernando Serrano as Facu; Juan Pablo Campa as Federico; Tara Parra as Beba; Mar Carrera as Claudia and Camila Selser as Nini. Leonardo de Lozanne, Randy Ebright, Jorge Luke, Jorge Mondragon and Javier Solorzano also make special appearances.
