Cox Launches New ODU Channel On Demand

ODU-TV can be found on Channel 2642

CHESAPEAKE, Va., Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications is pleased to announce the launch of the new Old Dominion University (ODU) TV On Demand, a "virtual network channel," in partnership with ODU.

ODU-TV, Old Dominion University's new On Demand Channel can be found on channel 2642 and is available exclusively on Cox Communications' Virginia systems in our three market areas of Cox Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, and Roanoke.

"We are pleased to leverage our Video On Demand platform for ODU allowing customers access to this content anytime it is convenient for them. We have a great partnership with the University and the establishment of this new On Demand Channel is just one more way we are bringing value to ODU students," says Dianne Earley, Vice President of Cox Media Virginia.

Cox digital cable viewers are able to tune in to ODU-TV 24/7 to watch weekly highlight packages of all Monarch sports action, replays of athletic games and coaches shows from the previous week, and special interviews with coaches and student athletes, created just for Cox customers.

ODU's Senior Associate Athletic Director, Debbie White, says, "This is a perfect method to increase the reach of the ODU brand. Through this new virtual channel, we can provide comprehensive coverage of ODU's athletic teams and campus life. This channel also will assist our ability to recruit student athletes both inside and outside the Hampton Roads area."

Ms. Earley adds, "ODU gains many advantages with this On Demand Channel, including the ability to target key audiences and provide in-depth information about the university and its attributes. With detailed usage reports to track viewer response, ODU will be able to fine tune its programming to serve student, alumni, potential students, and the community at large."
