Celebrities Lend Their Support for Teens During Suicide Prevention Month

Award-Winning Film, Archie's Final Project, Provides an Online Safe Haven For Teens- Offers Tips to Prevent Teen Suicide

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A-list celebrities are lending a hand to teens across the country for Suicide Prevention Month. The awareness campaign is part of the hugely successful online teen awareness campaign called "I Am an Archie" for the upcoming release of the award-winning film Archie's Final Project. With the recent attention to high profile suicides, the film's cast and its supporters are turning up the volume to reach teens that have fallen victim to suicidal thoughts by providing important tips to prevent teen suicide and detecting the warning signs of someone in distress. The tips are located on the Facebook.com/ArchiesFinalProject. The film's Facebook campaign has garnered the support of actors including Adrian Grenier, Twilight's Michael Welch and YouTube sensation Shane Dawson, among others who have reached out to teens through the Facebook page to let them know that they are not alone. The Archie's Final Project team has compiled a guideline for parents, teens and friends to raise awareness of signs and symptoms of suicidal thoughts and provide the most appropriate way to prevent harm. These tips include:

-- Know and recognize the symptoms and signs of suicidal thoughts and
attempts.
-- Don't make deals. NEVER keep suicidal plans or thoughts a secret even if
it puts your relationship at risk. Saving their life is more important.
-- Share the responsibility. Create a support group of friends and family
to help the individual step by step from crisis to recovery. (Source:

It is a dramedy about a 17-year-old media student who announces that for his final school video project he is going to kill himself on camera. Archie's teen-centric video diary exposes truths of life which include death, sex, violence, drugs and the hypocrisy of the modern media, which assaults all teens. The film dramatizes the current state of today's youth, vividly portraying the "self-inflicted" life of Archie as he documents every moment of his high school experience. www.iamanarchie.com
