CHESAPEAKE, Va., July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, July 2, 2011, Cox Communications and the Gospel Music Channel will hold an event celebrating the national "Uplift Someone" American tour.

Activities will be held at the Peninsula Town Center Solutions Store, located at 4600 Kilgore Avenue, Hampton, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live music, face painting for the kids, street performers, children's activities, and much more.

Chris Pantoya, Vice President of Sales for Cox Virginia, said, "This is an exciting opportunity for area residents to come out and win prizes, meet special guests and get involved in the GMC movement. We hope that Hampton Roads residents really enjoy this event and are inspired to support this initiative."

According to the GMC website, the Uplift America Tour program was started to remind Americans of how easy it is to commit to doing kind and positive acts for others.
