STORY SUMMARY: The 17th Annual 2011 ESSENCE Music Festival Presented by Coca-Cola will take place this Fourth of July weekend (July 1, 2, 3) in New Orleans to convene the country's largest gathering of African-Americans to celebrate Black music. The 2011 ESSENCE Music Festival will feature performances by the largest assembly of black musical talent in the world, augmented by community-oriented the ESSENCE Empowerment Experience led by the country's most prominent African-American leaders. Last year's ESSENCE Music Festival drew more than 400,000 attendees, making it one of the most successful years for the annual July event.

The 2011 ESSENCE Music Festival will feature an amazing line-up. Kicking off the musical extravaganza on FRIDAY JULY 1: Usher, Charlie Wilson, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia and Boyz II Men. Another stellar lineup of artists are scheduled to appear on SATURDAY JULY 2: Kanye West, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan and El Debarge. Closing out the Festival on SUNDAY JULY 3: Mary J. Blige; New Edition; Trey Songz; and Kem. Some of the Essence Empowerment Experience participants will include: Steve Harvey; Laz Alonso; Rev.
