Unaware Producers Offering Free Website Subscription; Also Collaborating with National Charities
DALLAS, March 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sean Bardin and Robert Cooley, the producers of the currently unreleased sci-fi/thriller film Unaware, recently announced that the hit feature has received an Indie Fest Award in addition to the coveted Official Best of Fest(TM) Award, which distinguishes the film in the top 5% out of the 30,000 short films and 7,000 feature films considered this year. These awards follow the news of two nominations at a major film festival in Illinois. In addition to being recognized at these events, the producers are now offering filmmakers a free networking website dedicated to helping professionals market, advertise, and potentially distribute their films. The website has been called "the movie business social network."
Combining professionalism with personality, Filmbook.Me (initially codenamed IndieFilmSales.com) has just hit the Internet in public BETA, and the newly developed showcase is available for all filmmakers, fans, and professionals to join. They will simply need to register as a member, confirm their subscription, and upload their movie trailer. Membership is not limited to filmmakers - all individuals with an interest in film are welcome. The site also offers a private forum where individuals can chat in real time, promote their creative works, and post topics of interest to others. The administration did not specify for how long Filmbook(TM) would be free, but they expressed interest in keeping membership open for at least 6 months. The video catalog will be divided into feature films, shorts, documentaries etc., and eventually further subdivided into genres. The site does not only benefit filmmakers - it also makes it easy for those in the business of acquiring and distributing films to browse completed projects. Agents, studios, buyers, and so forth normally would not have the ability to preview so many filmmakers' trailers at one time and from one centralized location.
The days of submitting to a film festival, waiting to be possibly selected, and then getting a distribution deal based on the "buzz" generated solely from festival-goers are long gone. Too many decent films are being overlooked with this process, and filmmakers waste hundreds, sometimes thousands, in submission fees just to be rejected in many instances. The whole process is very time consuming and frustrating. Most distributors do not accept unsolicited mail, and any received is usually tossed out or returned unopened. To the contrary, Filmbook(TM) makes it easy and accessible for everyone to network without publishing hardcopy information that would have to remain updated.
Simultaneous to the launch of the new website, the producers also announced that they have teamed up with two of the most recognized national charitable organizations - the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the William J. Clinton Foundation. A significant percentage of Unaware movie sales has been committed directly to the NCMEC, whilst a generous cash donation has already been donated to President Clinton's Foundation, in hopes that other filmmakers will follow suit.
