"DAYS" BOOK TOUR GIVES OPPORTUNITY TO THOSE THAT MISSED OUT TO GET A SIGNED BOOK BY CONTACTING THEM AT DAYSBOOKS@ITGIRLPUBLICRELATIONS.COM; BOOK TOUR HEADS TO NEW ORLEANS FOR NEXT STOP
LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Suwanee, a small town outside of Atlanta known as one of the top ten cities in the U.S. to live in, played host to cast members and authors touring with the "Days of our Lives" book tour at the Suwanee City Hall for a signing of "Days of our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos." Thousands of fans showed up, forming lines that circled the giant town hall area to get a chance to meet their beloved cast and book authors. Originally planned to be at the Public Library, officials changed the location to City Hall when they realized they needed a larger space to accommodate dedicated fans who had traveled from multiple cities and states. Suwanee police assisted in keeping the excited crowd contained as the cast and authors enthusiastically stayed for an additional two and a half hours, attempting to meet everyone. As Executive in Charge of Production for the show, Greg Meng presented Mayor Dave Williams with an honorary "Days" Hourglass while thanking him and the city for their hospitality. Meng commented on the stop in Atlanta that, "The cast and I were thrilled and overwhelmed by the large number of our family of fans that came to see us Monday. Next up for us is to give back to fans and communities by donating our time to working with New Orleans' St. Bernard Project!"
The Suwanee signing is the most successful stop so far on this multi-city book tour that originated in Los Angeles and continued to New York, Houston, Miami, Detroit, and, most recently, Chicago, where over 1,500 fans broke the current record when they lined up at the annual Flower & Garden Show for two days straight. The next stop is New Orleans, where the show is pairing with St. Bernard Project, a non-profit established in March 2006 to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
Due to the volume of fans that came out, there were so many fans that were unable to purchase a book and get it signed that the "Days" Book Tour created an email to provide fans with the opportunity to purchase a special signed copy of the book. Anyone that was unable to purchase the book and is interested in purchasing one and having the cast sign it should email, Daysbooks@itgirlpublicrelations.com.
"Days of our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos," co-authored by Meng and Hollywood art director Eddie Campbell, is a rare glimpse of over 500 behind-the-scenes, never-before-seen photographs of cast, crew, sets, and styling, breaking the proverbial "fourth wall" for an extraordinary look inside the studio and into the lives of the show's stars.
In addition to the anniversary book, former head writer Sheri Anderson was in Atlanta to promote her "Days of our Lives" novel, "A Secret in Salem," the first in a trilogy of books following characters who are no longer on the show, as well as original cast members and authors Bill and Susan Hayes, a real life couple who met on the show and married after falling in love alongside their characters, Doug and Julie. They were promoting their book, "Like Sands Through the Hourglass," with their longtime and newer cast mates Suzanne Rogers ("Maggie"), Nadia Bjorlin ("Chloe"), Jim Reynolds ("Abe"), Galen Gering ("Rafe"), Crystal Chappell ("Carly"), and Atlanta's own Chandler Massey ("Will").
