"The Park" will Host Announcements, Product Demos and Conversations; Web Streaming to Expand Reach for Cable Show 2011 Exhibitors and Attendees
WASHINGTON, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today announced a new venue for demonstrating innovative new products and services, facilitating thought-provoking discussion on the future of media and entertainment, and making media announcements at TheCable Show 2011.
In keeping with the Show's "Everything Possible" theme, "The Park" - a fully equipped amphitheater in the midst of the bustling Cable Show exhibition floor - will be a focal point for media, analysts, Show attendees, and anyone looking to see and hear about exciting new developments in rich, immersive content and creative distribution technologies.
The Cable Show 2011, NCTA's 60th Annual Convention and International Exposition, takes place June 14-16, 2011, at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The Park comprises a stage, seating, and a reserved press area in a park-like setting on the exhibit floor. NCTA will produce and host several short moderated segments where invited guests will announce news, unveil new products, and share their views on everything from creative concepts in content development to important consumer trends. The schedule will be posted in advance with real-time alerts available for all Cable Show mobile application users as stage events approach.
"We are looking to expand the reach of The Cable Show this year and open a window to the world on exciting new developments coming out of the industry's signature event," said Barbara York, NCTA's Senior Vice President, Industry Affairs. "The Park will provide a very high-profile opportunity to demonstrate cable's leadership and competitive advantage in delivering broadband."
York noted that the objective of The Park is to focus on new ideas, approaches, platforms and products that:
-- Demonstrate cable's relevance in today's media and entertainment world.
-- Distinguish cable from both traditional and emerging competitive
platforms.
-- Focus on the consumer experience as well as cable's award-winning,
diverse content.
-- Allow cable to reinforce its position as the premier provider and
enabler of products and services that consumers value.
NCTA will live-stream the presentations at www.thecableshow.com and archive each segment on the site to enable future viewing via YouTube sites, TheCable Show mobile application, and other outlets.
NCTA invites proposals to participate in The Park events. Ideas can include press conferences, product demonstrations, one-on-one interviews, presentation of critical research and live focus groups. Cable Show exhibitors, NCTA member companies and partners, and academia/research groups all are eligible to participate. To be considered for a time slot in the showcase, interested parties must read the Request for Proposal and complete the NCTA application available at: www.thecableshow.com/ThePark. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2011.
Proposals will be considered by a working group of the NCTA Convention Committee - those selected to present will be notified in mid-May, 2011.
