Mission Media Group Announces John Harris as New Show Host
Show Titled 'Sporting News Radio Overnight'
HOUSTON, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mission Media Group, LLC, which distributes content under the Sporting News Radio (sportingnewsradio.com) name, announced John Harris as the new host of "Sporting News Radio Overnight", a show running weekdays from 2-6 a.m. Eastern time. Harris' show will launch on Monday, April 4, 2011.
"We are adding a real sports heavyweight to the lineup. John's sports knowledge is as wide and deep as anyone on radio today," said Mission Media Group's President, David Gow. "Also he connects to his audience. This is a heady combination."
"Sporting News Radio Overnight" is designed to be a refreshing change. The show's format will be fast paced with callers, opinions, topics and interviews.
"John is not stale and predictable like the majority of shows who occupy overnights. He allows us to get back to what we know best, compelling sports talk," said Sporting News Program Director, Craig Larson. "We've had John on the network as a guest host and the feedback has been great. We think our affiliate base will really value his commitment to sports."
With more than two decades of experience, Harris has a diverse background in sports media, with articles for collegefootballnews.com and foxsports.com. He is known as caller friendly, and his familiar voice has been on TV and on radio as a college football expert in more than 20 different cities. Most recently he served as afternoon drive host for 1560 The Game in Houston.
"I'm humbled by the opportunity that I've been afforded and look forward to the biggest professional challenge of my life. I'm truly excited to spend time with a nationwide audience on a daily basis," stated Harris.
