MEXICO CITY, March 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fomento Cultural Grupo Salinas, the cultural arm of Grupo Salinas (www.fcgs.com.mx), founded by the Mexican entrepreneur Ricardo B. Salinas Pliego (www.ricardosalinas.com), presented the book "Las cinco rutas de Hernan Cortes," by Juan Miralles during a special inauguration ceremony this week.
Miralles, a member of the Royal Academy of History and author of titles such as "Hernan Cortes. Inventor de Mexico," "Y Bernal mintio," in addition to "La Malinche, raiz de Mexico," narrates the expedition that led the Spanish conquistador to the discovery of New Spain, from his departure from Cuba to the fall of Tenochtitlan.
The book is illustrated with historic maps from the collection of Fomento Cultural Grupo Salinas and also includes a large-scale map that allows readers to more clearly understand each of the routes traveled by the conquistador, his troops, and allies. The author emphasizes the role played by Cortés as a political figure, through anecdotes, reflections, and interesting data.
The book launch was presented by Fondo Cultural Grupo Salinas Director Mercedes Garcia Ocejo, with excerpts read by the author.
