Film Contest Launches to Envision a New, Possible Future

Sponsored by The Pachamama Alliance

SAN FRANCISCO, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Help design a new future for humanity by illustrating your vision through film and entering the Possible Futures Film Contest. The contest, launched today, invites people to create a short film imagining a positive, possible future for the world. Both experienced and new filmmakers are encouraged to enter.

Films can be submitted in four categories and must be made by June 21. Winners will be announced on July 25 with awards valued at $30,000, including cash and trips to the Amazon Rainforest.

Entries can be one to five minutes in length and incorporate a wide range of looks, feels and styles, including drama, comedy, documentary, animation, or a mix. They can be inspiring, edgy, funny, shocking or heartfelt.

A panel of renowned judges includes: Chris Eyre, film director/producer; Neil Huxley, interactive media producer, live-action director, and motion graphics designer for films, including Avatar; Annie Leonard, Director of The Story of Stuff Project and author of The Story of Stuff; Trudie Styler, actress, producer and global activist; Geshe Yong Dong, spiritual teacher, holding a Rajampa Geshe degree - the highest in Tibetan monastic education.

Together, the judges comprise a broad spectrum of expertise in broadcast media, from film and television production and direction, to visual effects design and writing. In addition, the judges share a fundamental interest in subject matter that addresses global issues and encourages visionary thinking, activism and spiritual consciousness.

Film categories reflect four areas of our relationship to a new future:

Peace and Freedom: Resolution of conflict, without war and oppression

Fair Societies: A world of justice and human rights, free of discrimination and fear

Sustainability and Beyond: A thriving relationship between humans and natural ecosystems, without compromising future generations

Human Fulfillment: The expansion of consciousness, connection, and community, and our relationship with one another

The film contest is sponsored by The Pachamama Alliance and its Four Years. Go. campaign. Partners include promotional support from Wieden + Kennedy, the world's largest independent ad agency network, funding from The Embrey Family Foundation, and technical assistance from Vimeo.

Envisioning the future is the first step in making it real. Let your creativity flow. Imagine what you desire for the world. Make a Film. Make a Difference.
