Cadillacs Share Spotlight at Vail Film Festival
Escalade, CTS Sport Wagon and SRX crossover are venues for short films
VAIL, Colo., March 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With automotive entertainment systems becoming more advanced, Cadillac is out to prove at this week's Vail Film Festival that some of the best seats in the house could be inside its luxury cars, crossovers and SUVs.
In addition to the theater screenings, the Vail Film Festival presented by Cadillac will feature a series of short films that attendees can watch on the interior entertainment systems of three Cadillacs: the 2011 Escalade Platinum, CTS Sport Wagon and SRX crossover.
The Escalade Platinum, CTS Sport Wagon and SRX all feature a 10-speaker, Bose 5.1 digital surround sound system. The Escalade that will be at the Vail Film Festival has four display screens - an in-dash screen in the front, one drop-down screen in the rear and two screens in the back of the front head rests.
"The passenger entertainment systems in our Cadillacs truly bring the movie experience into the vehicle," said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac marketing. "We thought the Vail Film Festival provided a great opportunity to showcase our latest technology and also give attendees another way to enjoy these fine films."
Aside from providing small-screen theaters, Cadillacs also will serve as the official shuttle vehicles for filmmakers, celebrities and other VIP guests at the film festival. Kate Bosworth, star of "Blue Crush," "Superman Returns" and "Beyond the Sea" is scheduled to attend the festival and receive the Excellence in Acting Award.
Emmy Award-winning actor/filmmaker Michael Imperioli is scheduled to attend the festival to receive this year's Renegade Award for Risk Taking in Film. Josh Lucas, star of "Sweet Home Alabama," "Glory Road," "The Lincoln Lawyer," and Clint Eastwood's upcoming "J. Edgar," will be honored with the 2011 Vanguard Award.
The Vail Film Festival runs Thursday, March 31, through Sunday, April 3, with a line-up of 67 films. It opens with a screening of "Falling Overnight" at the Vail Mountain School. Also on opening day, the festival will screen the Colorado premiere of "Super," an action-packed comedy starring Rainn Wilson, Kevin Bacon, Liv Tyler and Ellen Page.
