(Philadelphia, PA) -- November 2nd, the eyes of the nation will be focused on Pennsylvania, as two of the most crucial political races in America play out in the Keystone State. Pennsylvania voters will be choosing a new Governor and a new U.S. Senator, and 6abc will host two key debates that will give citizens a chance to learn more about the candidates. Both debates will air live on 6abc and also stream live on the station website - 6abc.com!
Monday, October 18th - Live from the WPVI studios, Republican candidate Tom Corbett will face off against Democratic candidate Dan Onorato, from 7-8pm. Moderated by 6abc Action News' Jim Gardner, this one-hour broadcast will feature the two challengers to replace Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell. Panelists for the gubernatorial debate will include veteran Action News reporter, Vernon Odom, and WITF-TV's Nell McCormack-Abom. This will be the final live debate for the gubernatorial hopefuls.
Wednesday, October 20th - It's one of the most talked about political races in the country, and on October 20th, Pennsylvania's candidates for U.S. Senator, Pat Toomey (R) and Joe Sestak (D), will go head-to-head on 6abc. The much anticipated debate will be broadcast live from Philadelphia's National Constitution Center at 7pm, and will be moderated by 6abc Action News' Jim Gardner & ABC News' (Good Morning America) George Stephanopoulos. Action News reporter Vernon Odom and WFMZ news anchor Wendy Davis will serve as panelists for the one-hour debate.
This will be the first televised debate between the two candidates. Toomey, the Republican candidate from the Lehigh Valley, will square off against Democrat Sestak, from Delaware County. Gardner and Stephanopoulos will engage the candidates on topics such as the economy, health care, tax cuts, and political advertising. With the race tight in the polls, the debate could ultimately sway the election on November 2nd.
