Great Grandmother Writes Song to Encourage Americans to Vote!
BIRMINGHAM, Mich., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Isabelle Simon, an 87 year old Birmingham resident has decided to make her voice heard and stand up for what she believes in: God and her country.
In an effort to encourage her fellow American's to make their voices heard, she wrote the words and music to a thoughtful song about her country, her faith and her hope for America's future.
"I want to hand down to my 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren the same country my father handed to me," said Mrs. Simon, who immigrated from Scotland with her 7 brothers and sisters when she was only 3 years old. "However, the America of today isn't the same country I came to so many years ago."
"My father took each of us kids down to register to vote when we turned 21," Mrs. Simon recalls. "He was proud to be an American and so am I." That is why, at her "tender" age, she has decided to do what she can to help her country. "We can all make a change," Mrs. Simon said, "but we have to get out and vote to do it."
Mrs. Simon hopes the song and her heartfelt interview will encourage people to vote on November 2nd. The song, "God Gave Us This Country" along with an in-depth interview can be accessed at http://www.vimeo.com/16086533 and the CD is available for purchase on iTunes for $.99. Isabelle Simon of Birmingham, Michigan is an independent song writer.
