Caring For You: Consumers Can Now Access IL Hospital Safety and Quality Information

CHICAGO, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Nearly 200 Illinois hospitals have committed to provide their patients with the best possible health care quality and safety, by sharing best practices and implementing new and better methods to prevent and reduce hospital-related infections and complications, as well as unnecessary readmissions. A new Illinois HospitalsCaring For You website, launched by the Illinois Hospital Association's (IHA) Quality Institute, is helping everyday consumers access--and assess--meaningful information about hospital services and how they measure up in terms of quality and safety.

On Monday, October 25 at 6:00 p.m. Chicago Access Network (CAN-TV), Channel 21, will air a live call-in program, "Community Health," which will focus on how individuals in need of hospital care can access this important information to make better health care decisions.

Host Lenore Janecek, president and founder of SAVE THE PATIENT, and Patricia Merryweather, IHA senior vice president and leader of the IHA Quality Care Institute, will discuss the Illinois quality care initiative--and how it is reaching out to people in need of hospital care.

Viewers are encouraged to join in the program, by calling-in their questions about Illinois hospital safety and quality information.
