Alex Guarachi Presents Music for Relief With Another $50,000 Donation for Earthquake Relief Efforts in Chile

Alex Guarachi Presents Music for Relief With Another $50,000 Donation for Earthquake Relief Efforts in Chile

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Alex Guarachi, President of TGIC Importers, signed his name at the bottom of a $50,000 check and presented it to Music for Relief, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, to aid in the earthquake repair efforts in Chile. This, coupled with an initial donation made days after the February quake, brings the total amount donated to $100,000.

This effort was made possible because consumers filled their grocery carts with bottles of Montes and Santa Ema wines during the months of March, April and May. For each bottle sold, a portion of the proceeds went to Music for Relief, a partner of Habitat for Humanity. They, in turn, donated 100% of the money raised to relief efforts in Chile. Not a penny went toward administrative costs.

Whitney Showler, Chief Operating Officer of Music for Relief, says, "I'm inspired by Alex Guarachi and TGIC's commitment to helping those in Chile affected by the earthquake. Their generous contribution motivated TGIC clients and customers to join the effort and support hardworking families during this time of great need."

Homes now stand where there was once rubble, and community centers have been erected to help some of the nearly 2-million people displaced by the quake. Being out of the headlines doesn't mean that life is back to normal for the Chilean people. More remains to be done, and with donations such as this one, construction can continue.

The goal of TGIC was to raise $50,000 to mirror our initial donation and we made it. It is with deep gratitude that we thank the consumers for supporting our efforts and for tasting the fruits of Montes and Santa Ema's labors.

Local ABC News affiliate, KABC-TV, was on-hand for the presentation and featured sound-bites from Alex Guarachi, President and CEO of TGIC Importers, Whitney Showler of Music for Relief and Tami Phillips from Habitat for Humanity. They spoke of the contribution, what difference it's made to the people of Chile and how it's still important to remember those affected as we approach the 6-month anniversary of the earthquake.
